The FPAN Project began in three districts in 1959 and today it has expanded to cover 31 of Nepal's 75 districts.
Except for Baitadi and Kapilvastu, where coverage is 100 percent it works in selected Village Development Committees (VDCs). There are 788 VDCs in rural areas and 75 wards in Municipality areas. The total population it serves is approximately 6 million and the number of married women of reproductive age is nearly 960,000.
